My sister told me that she was selling old silver coins to an online company. I asked her why she would just not take them to the coin dealer that has been downtown forever. She explained that she had already been to see him and he did not offer her very much money.

I guess that coin collections are just not worth that much these days and it is easier to sell coins to people that are just looking to melt it down and make new things from it. I read an article in the newspaper about someone who had tons of old jewelry and did the same thing. They made a lot of money from everything they sold.

I asked my sister why she considered selling old silver coins that she had forever anyway. I guess that she figured that they were just sitting around collecting dust anyway and she might as well just get something out of them while the price of silver was high. I am not sure if I would want to sell coins that I had been collecting since I was a very small child or not. I would think that eventually they would be worth some good money, even if they had to be passed down for generations.
