It is one of the most popular games with the present generation and it is still picking up all over the world. Bowling is said to be invented in Ancient Egypt in 5020 B.C. and it has never looked back since.
The basics of the game is that it has pins in the shape of bottles that are placed in a fixed triangular shape at the end of a wooden or synthetic lane of a predetermined width. The lane on each side has a semicircular lane which is referred to as gutter. The idea is for the player to knock down as many pins as he or she can with the bowling ball which has to be rolled in the lane from a set distance which is marked by a line.
If any part of the player breaches the line at any stage of the throw, then it is a foul and the throw is null and void, similarly if the ball goes in the gutter then it implies you have missed all the pins, hence getting not points for the throw. The more pins you hit the more you score.
The maximum being a strike that is you get all the pins. The bowling balls are of different weights, so one should choose the right weight for them. It also has three holes in it to help you get a good grip on it to enable you to get a controlled throw.
There are various types of forms of the game, basically varying with the number of pins being set as targets. The most popular form and also the pattern followed for the official tournaments consists of ten pins. The player who has a higher score at the end of a set number of stipulated throws wins the match.
A match can be played between two players at tournament level, however among friends it very common to see players teaming up to play, that is two in each team. Here the team score decides the winner. It is surely a good way to spend time with friends and family and yet enjoy a competitive game of Indoor Bowling.
