Web Design and a Great Navigation Bar
03/10/2008
We have all seen websites with navigation bars that are more confusing than they are helpful. From a buyer’s perspective, this type of web design is virtually worthless. Typically, when someone visits an ecommerce website, a place where they can purchase a product and/or service, they want to find their way around quickly and easily. This means you need to create your web design so that certain links can be accessed regardless of the page within the site. Although there are a number of ways to accomplish this, the most efficient and effective is the navigation bar. Whether visiting a web design in Manchester, somewhere in Asia, or the United States, make it easy for every visitor.
To help you get started, we wanted to provide you with some of the specific items we suggest you place on the navigation bar. Additionally, while you can place this bar anywhere, the standard is the top left on every page within the website. Again, you can design this bar how you like but these items would be the minimum to consider:
- Items Sold – You need a link that would take your customers to the things you sell. Now, if your inventory is massive, then you can always create different category pages on which items are broken down.
- Ordering – Once the customer finds what he/she wants to buy, an order form would be filled out so the sale can be completed.
- Pricing – Of course, make sure your navigation web design has a price list for everything you sell. A web design without a price list is losing many potential buyers.
- Customer Service – Often, people need to ask a question so you need to provide them a way to do so. We suggest you provide a toll-free phone number, email, and if possible, live chat support.
- About Us – Finally, you need to tell your customers why you are the online company from which to buy. Remember, you have tough competition so let the customers know when you began the business, how long you have been involved with this particular industry, the quality of products you sell, your mission statement, and so on.
