My Parents Both Have Dentures
02/03/2010
I hope that when I get older, I do not have to get dentures like my mother and father have had to do. I guess that some sort of tooth decay disease runs in our family and as you get older it becomes progressive very quickly. I know that my mother had less than a year till she had to get her dentures when the decay took over.
My father had a little bit more time; he actually had whiter teeth than anyone I had ever seen when everything started. I remember family members talking about how my father had whiter teeth than anyone they had ever met so he must take really good care of them. Little did they know that about two and a half years later he would be getting dentures that were definitely not as white as what his original teeth had been? I think that people probably thought that he was getting older and his teeth were changing too since they did not have that healthy white glow to them anymore.
I go to the dentist every four months instead of the recommended six months and they always do extensive cleaning and X-rays to stay on top of the decay issue and hopefully prevent it if it starts to appear.
