I started a new job at an electronics store just last month. I figured it would be a boring job just trying to make sales all day and maybe occasionally putting stuff together for display. To my surprise so far it has been very fun and exciting. I am learning all about cat5e patch panels and different types of networking connections. In the surround sound for instance there are so many wires and connections that they have rack shelves behind the wall for all the cables and there are lots of cat5e patch panels to make the connections and switches easier. Some of the cat5e patch panels are simple just boxes that protect all the open splices to give a cleaner look and to make it easier to switch systems and stuff. The rack shelves are simply for laying the cables and wires on so they can be zip tied down and nice and organized. We have also stuck labels on the front of the rack shelves so we know which direction and what the cables are actually running. It is a very neat and organized system that looked super confusing at first but now I can see is really pretty easy to navigate if you pay attention. I never would have thought I could be talking about cat5e patch panels when I took this job but now they are no big deal to me.
